SERVING THE PEOPLE
LCC Krus Church has a new trainer to train the rural community on livelihood projects! Dara is a member of Krus Church who had completed his college training on agricultural engineering and he's back to serve his community! Food security is still an issue in many rural villages in Cambodia. Most are paddy farmers with little know-how on cultivating other crops outside of the rice planting season. Classroom and field training have been ongoing since January in Krus and the neighbouring villages with close follow-up by the trainer and team from Krus Church. Many are now able to produce food from their own fields to support their family, and hopefully even to bring in some income to send their children to school.
SHARING THE WORD
Pastor Keo Thuy Joseph was engaged on contract basis to be responsible for the Family Ministry started by the Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Mission (FELM) & currently lodged with LCC. The Family Ministry seeks to support & strengthen families through marriage enrichment courses & FM radio sessions that can reach 15 million listeners! With more & more families breaking up in the Cambodian society due to domestic issues, this ministry had been well received by churches & communities. The LCC Family Ministry is not restricted to Lutherans but extended to all churches in Cambodia. Since the launch in 2012, the Family ministry has blessed more than 500 leaders/pastors/members and their spouses through the basic marriage enrichment course on the material How to Strengthen the Family written by FELM missionaries Anna- Kaarina Palmu and Matti Palmu, 2008.
LWM has been praying for someone to be based in Cambodia full time and is pleased to announce that God has provided that person – Kong Chak Mun! Chak Mun, 38, grew up as a junior boy in the 28 Boys’ Bridge Company in LCS Jurong Christian Church. He has since served as its captain for many years and groomed many youth leaders through this ministry among boys. He started the first BB Company in Cambodia (Siem Reap) several years ago and felt God’s calling for His mission to Cambodia. He has left his job in Singapore in response to God’s call to serve in LWM Cambodia from September 2015 to accompany the young Lutheran Church in Cambodia in its ministry and outreach to the Khmers!
BREAKING NEW GROUND
By the grace of God we are excited to share that the labour of the evangelistic team from LCC City Church in Kg Cham has bore some fruits. Under Pastor Daniel & Pastor Vibol, an evangelistic team with students from Rainbow Hostel has been doing outreach & ministry in Piak Biang & Tang Krang village in Kampong Cham -- 1.5 hours away from Phnom Penh. The village leaders welcome us & we are thankful the hearts of the people are open to the Gospel. God has paved the way for the Gospel seed to be sown & opening doors for LCC to anchor the ministry there. A piece of land at 4871 sqm was bought at USD 8,000 & other suports received for a simple parsonage, chapel/multi-purpose hall to be built for ministry. Please continue to pray & support this ministry, especially for Pastor Vibol & his family who are eagerly waiting for the pasonage to be ready before moving over to be based there full time.
